What is a Rotary Club?

Rotary is a Club for your town’s active professionals to build trusted friendships and community through regularly scheduled meetings with speakers, charitable and service activities, and social events.

It’s the original face-to-face social network for the City’s professionals before Facebook and LinkedIn.

It’s hyperlocal:  you’ll get involved in Boston-area events and hear notable Boston-area speakers.

It’s different because the same members see each other frequently (this builds friendships), members run the Club’s meetings and activities (so they build trust) and each member is sponsored to join by an existing member.  There are no hired club administrators.  It’s local civic involvement in action.

Rotary International is the world’s largest service club with over 1.5 million members in almost every country.  It was founded in 1905. Boston is home to both our Downtown Boston Rotary Club founded in 2009 and the lunch-time Rotary Club of Boston founded in 1909.

Read more about Rotary International here but note that this site is generally about the Rotary Foundation, a charitable fund established by Rotary members worldwide and just one of the many activities of Rotary.
